The Wavell Ensemble
The Wavell Ensemble is a small vocal group, based in the central belt of Scotland. It is comprised of former members of the TOTAL Aberdeen Youth Choir, which was for 10 years the host participating group at the Aberdeen International Youth Festival, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2002. The Wavell Ensemble is delighted that they were able to return to the festival to give their inaugural concert as a group, where they sang the world premiere of Contra Plagam by John Hearne. The ensemble's repertoire is a mix of classical and contemporary pieces, and features sacred and secular works by Barber, Stanford and Leighton, to name but a few. The group took part in the Glasgow Music Festival in March of this year, and will be presenting a short series of concerts at the start of November.
